DFW Top Metro for New Residents Moving to Texas
Moving to Texas? New data shows the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex reigns as the No. 1 metro for new residents moving to the Lone Star State. Data from a new Redfin.com report shows 76,037 people moved to DFW in 2020, the No. 2 largest net inflow after Phoenix, Arizona.
Hottest Metro in Texas
Twenty-eight percent of Redfin.com users looked to move to another metro area in 2020, up from 25.5% in 2019, driving double-digit inventory shortages in popular destinations like DFW.
“People aren’t moving to places with more homes available to buy; they’re moving to places with more affordable homes to buy,” said Redfin chief economist Daryl Fairweather. “Remote workers leaving expensive places for relatively affordable areas, partly because the allure of more house for less money is strong, is exacerbating housing supply shortages in more affordable parts of the country.
Real estate experts and economists believe the DFW real estate market will continue to be one of the hottest housing markets in the nation in 2021. According to the Q4 2020 Zillow Home Price Expectations Survey, 54 percent of experts predict DFW will outperform the national home-value-growth average.
With a competitive housing market and mortgage rates remaining near historic lows, homebuyers looking to move to Texas are urged to act quickly to find their new DFW home.
