Celina Is Getting Its First Major Hospital
Celina’s first hospital is one step closer to opening! Methodist Health System has officially broken ground and construction is underway as of April.
Once the hospital opens in 2025, area residents will have access to cardiovascular and cancer care, women’s services, orthopedics and robotic surgery, emergency rooms, and intensive care units. The full-service hospital will have 30 medical-surgical and 10 post-partum beds, 8 intensive care units, and 12 emergency department beds.
Patients will experience top-notch care in state-of-the-art operating rooms featuring advanced medical equipment, including a daVinci surgical robot, a cardiac catheterization lab, and two procedure rooms.
The 4-story, 200,000-square-foot hospital will serve the growing town of Celina and surrounding communities. The hospital represents a multimillion-dollar investment in Celina, where the population has nearly tripled since 2010.
“Roller Town” is Bright Shining Star of Growth and Prosperity
Nicknamed Roller Town at the turn of the 20th Century, Celina remains on a roll. The city was dubbed the fastest-growing suburb in the area with the population projected to be more than 150,000 within the next decade.
Methodist Health System CEO James Scoggin said they chose Celina because of the community involvement—the residents genuinely care about every aspect of their city. And Methodist intends to be part of the growing community they called a “bright shining star.” The hospital will be at the corner of Dallas Parkway and FM 428 on a 46-acre site that includes enough land to continuously invest in the community during the next two or more decades.
If You Build It, They Will Come
You can expect other facilities to open in Celina in the wake of this project. For example, Scottish Rite for Children purchased land on the Dallas North Tollway corridor, and Cook Children’s leased office space in the Celina Station development. And you’ll soon see supporting businesses such as pharmacies, doctors’ offices, rehabilitation facilities and medical suppliers join the community.
Additionally, since the hospital is expected to bring in 300-plus jobs, including physicians, nurses, clinicians, and support service staff, you will notice an uptick in economic development in the area. Those who work there will need food, fuel, homes, and other lifestyle necessities. So expect to see other types of businesses come to the area.
